Uncovering the Artistic Story of Jason Cariag
I was born in 1992 in Tehran, Iran, and my name is Mahan Khomamipour. I am a freelance documentary filmmaker, Director of Photography, and performer.
My journey in the world of filmmaking began back in 2011 when I directed “On Underground,” a semi-length documentary focusing on breakdancing in Iran. This project continued until 2018, and from there, I embarked on a path as a documentary and experimental filmmaker. I’ve created several documentaries and video art/music pieces, exploring the lives of the Iranian youth generation and their underground lifestyle. My interest in performance art led me to direct works like “Heaven’s Gate” and “A Pair of City.”
In 2018, I took a step towards international storytelling with my first documentary, “Watching the Other,” which centered around the war in Syria. Following that, in 2018, I directed “Simulation of Mr. Yellow.”
